ELIA Institute

Calgary

The ELIA Institute (Empirical Linguistic Identity Advancement Institute) is a Canadian nonprofit research organization dedicated to advancing the scientific understanding of how language shapes identity, empathy, communication, and mental well-being.
We believe that some of the most important questions about human behavior cannot be answered by a single discipline alone. By bringing together perspectives from psychology, linguistics, psychiatry, sociology, psychometrics, and related fields, we conduct interdisciplinary research that seeks to better understand the human experience and develop evidence-based tools with meaningful applications in education, healthcare, and community settings.
As an early-stage organization, we are building a collaborative community of volunteers who are passionate about research, science communication, and creating positive social impact. Whether you're contributing to literature reviews, educational content, grant development, communications, or design, your work directly supports our mission of making research more accessible and advancing knowledge that can improve lives.
At the Institute, volunteers are both contributors and founding members helping shape the future of a growing research institute committed to scientific integrity, collaboration, curiosity, and human dignity.
