Short-Form Video Content Volunteer

ELIA Institute is a nonprofit research institute exploring how language shapes human experience, including identity, emotion, and connection. We are seeking creative volunteers with video creation and editing skills to help bring these topics to life through short-form videos, particularly Instagram Reels.

Working with our social media team, you will turn research ideas, organizational updates, and everyday language experiences into engaging visual stories. You will create engaging short-form videos, particularly Instagram Reels, by combining footage, animated text, graphics, audio, and other visual elements. This may include editing existing material, creating motion graphics, or developing visually interesting ways to communicate research and ideas. You do not need to appear on camera or film yourself. This role suits someone who enjoys developing video concepts, editing footage, and finding creative ways to capture an audience’s attention while communicating accurately. 

As part of your role, you will:

Develop concepts, short scripts, and storyboards for Reels and other short-form videos.

Create and edit videos using footage, text, graphics, voiceovers, and audio.

Add captions and refine pacing, transitions, and sound for clarity and accessibility.

Collaborate with team members to translate research into approachable, accurate content.

Suggest relevant trends and formats that fit ELIA’s mission and audience.

Use feedback and performance insights to improve future videos.

Experience with tools such as CapCut, Canva, Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar software is welcome. Please share examples of your work, if available. Y
