------ The Mission

SSM Helping Hands is a cornerstone community thrift store in Sault Ste. Marie. We are now launching an ambitious, start-up phase transformation to evolve into a dynamic social enterprise that blends our community-focused storefront with a powerful e-commerce operation.

Our mission is to build a financially sustainable, technology-driven model that dramatically expands our support for the city's most vulnerable residents. We are not just running a store; we are building a hybrid retail powerhouse, a digital marketing agency, and an experiential learning hub for local students, all under one non-profit roof.

------ The Opportunity

We are building a large, high-intensity remote team to execute this transformation. This is a general call for dedicated specialists; we recruit for specific roles based on your skills and interests. We have opportunities across a wide range of project areas and need a diverse team to succeed. Below are just some examples of the work we're tackling:

    -  E-commerce Build-Out: Supporting the launch, inventory management, and optimization of our new Shopify e-commerce store.

    -  Branding & Web Development: Contributing to the graphic design of a new brand kit and executing a major redesign of our existing Wix website.

    -  Digital Marketing & Advertising: Assisting in the strategy and execution of campaigns using our $10,000/month Google Ad Grant.

    -  Content & Social Media Strategy: Developing and coordinating engaging content (TikTok, Instagram) with on-site student teams.

    -  Partnership & Program Development: Helping to formalize academic partnerships, structure internship programs, and launch our "Student Brand Advocate" initiative.

    -  Operations & Systems Management: Assisting with the setup of our remote-first workflow and tackling diverse administrative tasks to keep our project moving at a rapid pace.

    -  ...And Much More. This is a ground-floor opportunity with a massive scope. We are recruiting for dozens of specialized roles in project management, data analysis, copywriting, outreach, and beyond. If you have the time and a drive to build something incredible, we have a critical role for you to own.

This opportunity is ideal for those with significant availability (between jobs, on break, retired) who want to apply their time to a high-impact, resume-building project that merges technology, business, and social good. Your commitment allows us to assign dedicated volunteers to time-intensive, urgent tasks crucial for our launch.
