Bibliobug

Mumbai

Bibliobug is a first-of-its-kind Edtech social enterprise that translates complex real-world research from fields like psychology, sociology, neuroscience, data science, mathematics, and the humanities into fictional stories for teenagers and young adults. These stories are designed to help readers make sense of real life — relationships, identity, power, work, and society — through narrative storytelling. We are on a mission to transform today’s youth into smarter interdisciplinary thinkers and socially conscious changemakers who are determined to make this world a better place to live in.
Beyond our for-profit products and services, Bibliobug is also committed to social change. To drive our social impact mission, we partner with nonprofits and CSR organizations to make high-quality, future-ready education equitable and accessible for marginalized communities—leveraging AI and technology to democratize interdisciplinary thinking at scale.

The Problem:
#1
Over 9000 research papers are published everyday all around the world
The research that is produced almost never reaches common people, especially youth who can build on it, challenge or utilise it to function in their daily lives. For eg: there has been plenty of research on anxiety and how one can manage it, but it never reaches those who need it the most.
#2
Youth in the Global South, especially in India are used to rote memorization, which paralyses them to think beyond books or academic silos.
Modern-day problems like climate change, geopolitical conflicts, humanitarian crisis, economic inequality, technological disruptions etc. need an army of interdisciplinary thinkers to address such issues at scale. While specializing is important, thinking outside of academic silos is more crucial to understand the root cause of such problems and be able to solve them.
Education systems in the Global South do not cater to the current nature of problems, thus, failing to prepare youth to thrive in a VUCA world
As a result, youth today neither have the mindset nor the skillset to survive or thrive in this world
#3
Teenagers and young adults in India do not have illustrated books outside of comics and mangas.
While children have a wide range of topics covering colonialism, emotional resilience, relationship-building etc, there aren’t (m)any covering such a wide range for teens and young adults. The ones that exist are only limited to thriller, mystery, romance, sci-fi etc.
For a hyper-active growing brain, it is surprising to realise how little is available to stimulate the teenage mind

The Core Idea:
Bibliobug is our answer to solve these three problems at scale – provide youth with the mindset and the skillset to thrive in today’s ever-evolving world.

The Vision:
- We want high-quality research to be accessible to youth
- We want to design a digital learning ecosystem that caters to today’s youth
- We want to empower youth to be deeper, smarter, strategic thinkers and future-forward, socially-conscious and emotionally resilient changemakers
- We want youth to have a go-to community that caters to their aspirations as well as emotions, nurtures their mind and heart
- We want to do this all while doing significant social impact to marginalized youth
