Writer | Storyteller
Ongoing
The Role: We are looking for a Volunteer Writer who can weave abstract research insights into original engaging, immersive and impactful stories that widely cater to Gen-Z and Gen Alpha readers. If you can write stories that are emotionally stirring, thought-provoking, and socially conscious, we want you to join our Editorial team! This is a project-based volunteer role. You will be responsible for drafting research-based stories that help build interdisciplinary thinking and 21st century life skills. You will work closely with our founding team to ensure the storytelling aligns with our learning goals. What You’ll Do: Research Integration: Take research insights (e.g., The Psychology of Groupthink or Systemic Scarcity) and translate it into a compelling Young Adult (YA)/Teen narrative. Character Engineering: Create relatable, flawed characters who face "un-googleable" dilemmas where there is no easy right or wrong. Friction Design: Intentionally shape the plot to introduce moments of pause and reflection. Your goal is to make the reader stop and think deeper across domains. Iterative Drafting: Incorporate feedback from our learning designers to ensure the story meets the intended "internalization" objectives. Deadline Management: Deliver high-quality drafts within the project timeline. What We’re Looking For: A background or deep interest in the humanities, social sciences, or behavioral research. Strong storytelling ability (short stories, long-form, scripts, or novels) Sensitivity to age-appropriate language and emotional depth Comfort writing about real-world themes without preaching, moralising, oversimplifying or "dumbing it down." You understand the voice and concerns of modern, globally-aware youth You can inhabit different perspectives—even those you disagree with; to create a balanced "crossfire" of ideas in the story. The ability to explain complex systemic issues through action and dialogue rather than exposition. Openness to feedback and iterative writing Ability to commit to timelines and honour deadlines and revision cycles Alignment with Bibliobug’s values: curiosity, empathy, nuance, and social consciousness Formal writing credentials are not required. We believe creativity doesn’t always need credentials. If you believe in your power of storytelling and see a strong alignment with this role, please do apply. Commitment & Logistics: Duration: Project-based Hours: Flexible, milestone-driven. Location: 100% Remote. This Role Is Not For You If: You’re looking to write self-help or motivational content You’re uncomfortable revising your work You’re unable to commit to deadlines or collaborative processes You can only write using AI tools
