Canada Connects - Mentor a Newcomer Refugee Family or Individual

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of newcomers? Are you looking for a meaningful way to contribute to your community? We have an exciting volunteer opportunity just for you! Join "Canada Connects" - Our Refugee Mentor Program in Calgary, Alberta!

 Canada Connects, is a unique initiative aimed at fostering connections and support for refugee families settling in Calgary, Alberta. We believe that by offering mentorship, friendship  and guidance, we can make a lasting impact on their journey towards integration and a brighter future.

As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to become a mentor/friend to a refugee family, providing them with the support and encouragement they need during their settlement process. By sharing your time, experiences, and skills, you can create a welcoming and inclusive environment that helps them feel at home in our vibrant community.

🤝 What You'll Do as a Volunteer:
•	Act as a friendly and compassionate mentor to a refugee family
•	Offer practical assistance, such as orientation to the local area and access to community resources, visits to the library. 
•	Help build English language skills through informal conversations and activities
•	Encourage social connections by participating in community events together
•	Share cultural experiences and celebrate diversity
•	Provide emotional support and be a source of encouragement during challenging times

No previous experience is necessary; all you need is a compassionate heart, open-mindedness, and a commitment to making a positive impact. Have lived in Canada a MINIMUM OF 2 YEARS,  and are familiar with Canadian culture. Training  and ongoing support will be provided to ensure you feel confident and equipped in your role.
