Director of Communications: oversee our social media and marketing campaigns!

The Mental Health Society of Greater Victoria is seeking a Director of Communications to join our team! As an organization, our mission is to improve mental health in Victoria by contributing to relevant education and improving access to local support services. Our digital presence is one important aspect of how we connect with our community, and we would love to increase this presence within the community. We are a 100% volunteer organization that adapts to our volunteers' availability. All tasks for this position will be performed remotely on a flexible schedule. However, we host online meetings every two weeks for individual teams and one additional meeting every 3 months for all our volunteers. Currently, these meetings take place over Google Meet. On top of meetings, volunteers are expected to work remotely to complete their assigned tasks by the given deadline. The Director of Communications directly supervises all communications from the MHS by directly overseeing Social Media, Website, Blog, and Newsletter projects and volunteers. You will work collaboratively with a variety of our teams to assist with the development and execution of marketing strategies, campaigns, and events. The ideal candidate will have the following skills/interests: - Driven and enthusiastic around improving accessibility of resources and education around mental health - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Knowledge and experience in marketing (Digital Marketing) - Familiarity with social media, social networking, email marketing and search engines (SEO Optimization and Web analytics tools) - Organization skills & project management experience - Ideally based in Victoria or Vancouver BC Responsibilities include: - Overseeing all communications from the MHS by directly overseeing Social Media, Website, Blog, and Newsletter projects and volunteers - Leading check-ins with team members and other team managers to ensure the timely completion and delivery of social media posts and other promotional materials - Ensuring that all communications are in line with the mission and values of the organization, and adhere to the MHS Branding Guidelines - Working to develop popular accounts across all social media platforms, with regularly updated content for volunteers, clients, and community partners Required Application Documents: - Resume - Cover letter (Hint: we are not looking for a standardized cover letter! 1-2 paragraphs is fine.)
