Volunteer – Crime Prevention and Community Safety Programs

76 Kingsway, Vancouver, BC, V5T 3H9 [map]
6 hours / monthly
Ongoing
The MPCPC is looking for volunteers to participate in and run community-based crime prevention and safety programs such as neighborhood patrols, garbage and litter clean-up, information and referral services and outreach events.

The Mount Pleasant Community Policing Centre (MPCPC) is a volunteer-driven non-profit governed by a community-based board. The MPCPC promotes crime prevention and safety in partnership with residents, community agencies and the Vancouver Police Department. Additionally, by acting as a liaison between the Vancouver Police Department and community agencies the MPCPC works to create a safe and inclusive neighborhood while supporting the community’s most vulnerable. The MPCPC engages the community in volunteer-driven programs and other community-based services. Building on that, the MPCPC operates a warm and welcoming storefront to connect residents with those CPC programs and other community-based services.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
- Learn about and make an impact for the community through social programs and outreach events
- The opportunity to work with the Vancouver Police Department and other community based agencies on a variety of grassroots initiatives that promote crime prevention, safety, inclusion and community
- Gain experience in the social services and law enforcement from a community-oriented perspective
- Meeting and helping people from a vast array communities and cultures
