CPA / Financial Compliance Advisor

Type: Volunteer Advisory Role/ Board Member 
Location: Remote (Canada preferred)
Time Commitment: 4-6 hours per week (flexible)

Role Purpose
IWIL Ignite has just incepted its chapter in Canada and we are seeking a volunteer CPA to guide our organization through the financial, legal, and compliance requirements of establishing and operating a non-profit in Canada. This is an advisory role focused on governance, regulatory compliance, and financial structuring.

Key Responsibilities
1. Incorporation & Structure Guidance
Advise on federal vs provincial incorporation
Guide on charitable vs non-profit status
Review and advise on bylaws and governance structure

2. Financial Compliance
Suggestions on Establishing compliant bookkeeping structure
Guide chart of accounts for grant tracking
Ensure CRA and regulatory compliance
Advise on HST/GST obligations if any

3. Governance & Controls
Recommend internal financial controls
Advise on seeking Grants and Government Support for our programs 
Support board-level financial reporting structure
Create basic financial risk framework

4. Funding & Grant Compliance
Advise on financial reporting for grants
Help structure donor receipting compliance
Review funding agreements from a compliance lens
Ideal Candidate Profile

5.CPA designation (Canada preferred) :
Experience with non-profits or charities
Familiar with CRA regulations and filings
Strong understanding of governance best practices
Comfortable advising early-stage organizations

6.What This Role Is Not :
Not daily bookkeeping
Not a paid CFO role
Not full operational finance
This is strategic advisory support to ensure we build correctly from Day 1.
