Mentor an EMBERS Youth! Share your time, change a life
1-2 hours
/ weekly
3 month commitment
Not everyone has the support of a caring adult in their life: EMBERS mentors help young adults navigate life choices with support, respect and guidance based on their life experience. EMBERS is at a crucial stage of recruiting mentors and I invite you to volunteer. By doing so, you will make a real difference in the life of a Canadian youth. What it involves: ● One 1-hour session to train you in your role as mentor ● Regular meetings with your mentee, in person or on-line, for at least 3 months ● Monthly half-hour meet-ups with other mentors and the mentorship program manager to compare experiences and get guidance ● Support from staff at all times Qualifications to mentor an EMBERS youth ● Mentors are students, employees, entrepreneurs and other adults willing to invest their time. ● Mentors do not need to be an expert in their mentee’s chosen field. ● Mentors must be at least 25 years old. This is because mentees are young adults, generally between 18 and 25. ● Mentors make a 3-month commitment to their mentee. Mentors and mentees are free to continue the relationship after 3 months. ● To secure the environment for mentees, EMBERS pays for a criminal background check for all mentors.
