Big Sisters Mentor
2-4 hours
/ weekly

Be that person in a kid’s corner. In Metro Vancouver, 1 in 3 children have no trusted adult to turn to. That's where you come in. As a Big Sister mentor, you'll be matched one-on-one with a girl or gender-diverse youth (ages 7-17), showing up weekly and building the kind of relationship that shapes a life in your area. "You go in thinking you'll be the guide, but you end up learning just as much about yourself. Patience, growth, becoming the best version of you." — Big Sister Lauren We’re accepting applications across the Lower Mainland, but right now we especially need volunteers in: - Burnaby (Brentwood, Metrotown) - New Westminster - North Vancouver (Pemberton Heights, Deep Cove) - Richmond (Brighouse, Broadmoor) - Surrey (Newton, Saint Helen’s Park, Bridgeview, Fleetwood Park, Clayton) - Tri-Cities (Austin Heights, River Springs, Mary Hill) - Vancouver (Downtown, Strathcona, Mt. Pleasant) - White Rock Watch: A Day in the Life of a Big Sisters Mentor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUAUbCyAS84&t=2s Apply Now or contact Yeong at info@bigsisters.bc.ca for more information.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
- Communication, leadership & empathy skills that carry into every part of your life - Confidence in navigating real conversations, even the hard ones - A deeper sense of purpose and connection - Experience working with youth, valuable whether you're in education, social work, healthcare, or any people-focused field - A dedicated caseworker by your side from start to finish, checking in at key moments - A community of fellow mentors, events & workshops to keep you growing
