Make a positive impact that you can see with local youth who struggle with numbers!

Our Mentoring With Math Program is designed to strengthen the impact of tutoring by adding in the element of mentorship.

You’ll meet once-a-week for 90 minutes during afterschool hours, typically between 4:00 - 5:30pm over a 10 week period, to work on numeracy, complete activities, and play games. This program is offered virtually and in-person.

Our Math Mentors are
•	Adults aged 18+, inclusive of male, female, trans, and gender diverse individuals.
•	Volunteers who are not professional tutors but individuals who have a desire to support children.

Our Math Mentees are
•	Children in grades 3 to 7 who demonstrate a need for assistance in math at their grade level.
•	From families who are not otherwise able to financially pursue academic support outside of school.

Locations:
Both in-person and virtual options available. Programs offered in-person every 3-4 months in Surrey, Burnaby, Vancouver, and Coquitlam.

How does the program work?
Children in grades 3 – 7 are able to attend Mentoring with Math sessions each week for 90 minutes. For the first part of the session, volunteers will use a variety of techniques based on the principles of the JUMP Math numeracy program to encourage an understanding and love of math. The second part of each weekly session will encourage students in the program to interact with one another through a number of games and activities.
