PR & Media Outreach Volunteer – Pregnancy Loss Talk Show
4-10 hours
/ weekly
6 month term
The Unforgotten Ones is looking for a proactive PR & Media Outreach Volunteer to help us gain publicity for our established talk show focused specifically on pregnancy loss. The show features real conversations, personal stories and interviews exploring pregnancy loss, grief, healing and the experiences that are often left unspoken after a loss. We have an existing library of episodes and content. Our goal now is to get the show in front of a much larger audience. The volunteer will actively seek opportunities for the show and its host to receive media coverage and be featured through podcasts, radio, television, online publications, news stories, interviews and other relevant media. Activities may include researching journalists, producers, podcasts and publications; building targeted media lists; developing compelling story angles; writing and sending pitches; pitching the host for interviews; identifying opportunities tied to pregnancy loss awareness and relevant news; following up with media contacts; pursuing collaborations; and tracking outreach and results. We are looking for someone who is comfortable taking initiative and actually reaching out to media. This is not simply a position for developing a PR strategy — we want someone who will actively pursue publicity opportunities. This is an excellent hands-on opportunity for someone interested in public relations, communications, journalism, media or marketing who wants to build experience working on a meaningful real-world publicity campaign. Because the show deals specifically with pregnancy loss, applicants should be comfortable working respectfully with sensitive subject matter. Personal experience with pregnancy loss is not required.
Certification or Education Required
No specific certification required. Students or graduates in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing or a related field are encouraged to apply. Relevant hands-on experience is also welcome.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Gain hands-on PR and media outreach experience promoting an established pregnancy loss talk show. Build portfolio-worthy experience researching media, developing pitches, contacting journalists, podcasts and producers, and pursuing real interview and publicity opportunities. You’ll have the opportunity to see your outreach turn into actual media coverage and increased awareness.
