Friendly Visitor Volunteer

Brella Community Services Society is seeking compassionate and reliable volunteers to provide meaningful social visits to older adults in the community. As a Friendly Visitor, you’ll be matched with a senior to offer regular companionship through in-person visits at the client's home or a local café, depending on the client's preferences and your availability. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys conversation, building relationships, and making a positive impact on someone’s emotional well-being. Visits are scheduled based on your availability, typically once a week for 1–2 hours.


Key Responsibilities:
Visit with a senior in their home or local community setting for a friendly conversation and social connection
Offer companionship through shared activities such as chatting over coffee, going for a short walk, playing games, or listening to stories
Provide emotional support and reduce feelings of loneliness or isolation
Report any concerns or observations to the program coordinator

Qualifications & Skills:
Must be 18+ and able to commute to our office and/or clients
Friendly, patient, and a good listener and communicator 
Comfortable interacting with older adults, including those living with mild cognitive impairments
Reliable and able to commit to regular visits for 1 year 
Clear criminal record check required, provided at no cost through Brella
