Dementia Navigator (NavCARE) Volunteer

2-6 hours / monthly
Ongoing
Brella Community Services Society is seeking caring, empathetic, and resourceful individuals to join our Nav-CARE program as a Nav-CARE Dementia Navigator Volunteer. In this role, you'll provide regular support to older adults—particularly those living with dementia and their caregivers—through compassionate visits, advocacy, and community navigation assistance.

Whether it’s listening with empathy, helping someone access community resources, or simply being a steady, friendly presence, your time can make a lasting difference in someone’s life. Visits are typically 1–2 hours bi-weekly and are scheduled based on your availability. Clients are located in the White Rock and South Surrey area.

About Nav-CARE:
Nav-CARE stands for Navigation: Connecting, Accessing, Resourcing, and Engaging. This national program was developed to support older adults living with chronic illness, dementia, or increasing frailty by helping them stay connected, informed, and emotionally supported. Volunteers in this program, known as navigators, are specially trained to provide compassionate listening, help individuals access local resources, and accompany them through life’s changes.

At Brella, this role is ideal for someone seeking a deeper volunteer experience—it’s like an enhanced Friendly Visitor role, with additional training and opportunities for growth. Our Nav-CARE volunteers play a vital role in fostering meaningful community connections and reducing social isolation.
