Social Media Manager (Remote, Part Time)
Ongoing
About Right to Live Right to Live is a Canadian disability advocacy organization committed to empowering people with disabilities and ensuring equal opportunities and supports. We raise public awareness about the challenges faced by Canadians with disabilities and foster a culture of understanding, empathy, and inclusion. By promoting awareness and education, we strive to create a more inclusive society where everyone’s voice is heard. Role Overview We are looking for a creative, self-motivated Volunteer Social Media Manager to grow Right to Live’s online presence. In this remote, part-time volunteer role, you will shape our social media strategy and brand identity alongside the Executive Director. You will develop and implement engaging social media campaigns focused on disability rights, accessibility, and inclusion, helping to expand our reach and engage the community online. This is a great opportunity to bring your ideas to life: we are just launching our social channels, so you’ll help define our content strategy and voice from the ground up. Key Responsibilities: • Strategy & Campaigns: Develop and implement social media strategies to increase awareness and engagement around disability advocacy across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter (X), LinkedIn, etc. • Content Creation: Create, curate, and schedule compelling content (text, graphics, video) that aligns with Right to Live’s mission. This includes educational posts, graphics, stories, and short videos to inspire and inform our audience. • Community Engagement: Monitor our social media channels and analytics. Use data to optimize what you post and when. Engage with our followers by responding to comments and messages to educate and build community support. • Brand Voice & Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Director (and other volunteers) to develop an overall content strategy and ensure a consistent brand voice and visual style across all platforms. Review or help design any graphics to match our brand guidelines. Qualifications and Skills We welcome volunteers of all skill levels. Ideal candidates will have: • Passion for Disability Advocacy: A genuine interest in disability issues, social justice, or advocacy. An understanding of (or willingness to learn about) the challenges faced by people with disabilities in Canada is a plus. • Strong Writing & Communication: Excellent written communication and storytelling skills. You should be able to craft clear, engaging posts and captions that resonate with diverse audiences. • Creativity and Initiative: A creative mindset and ability to generate new ideas for content campaigns. We want someone who can think outside the box and help define a fresh brand identity. • Technical Skills: Familiarity with social media platforms and content-creation tools (e.g. Canva, Hootsuite or other scheduling apps). Experience with basic image or video editing is helpful. • Organization & Independence: Ability to work independently and manage your time (we’re flexible on hours). Good organization and the ability to juggle multiple platforms/timelines is important. • Remote Collaboration: Since this role is fully remote, you’ll need a computer, internet access, and comfort working virtually with a small team. How to Apply We warmly welcome volunteers from all walks of life. To apply, please email a brief resume or bio and a short message about why you’re interested in this role to our team (or use the volunteer form on our website). Tell us about any relevant skills or experience (or why you want to get involved) and include links to any social media accounts or writing samples if you have them. We’ll review all applications and get back to you about next steps. Thank you for your interest – we look forward to working with you to create positive change for Canadians with disabilities!
