Public Relations - Media Relations - Outreach Specialist (Full Time, Remote)
Ongoing
Public Relations - Media Relations - Outreach Specialist — FULL-TIME Organization: Right to Live Canada Location: Remote (Canada-wide) Time Commitment: Full-time volunteer commitment, 35 hours per week. This is a remote volunteer opportunity with Right to Live Canada, a virtual-office based Canadian non-profit. ------ THE MISSION Canada is currently facing a human rights crisis of international consequence: systemic poverty-driven euthanasia (MAiD) amongst Canadians with disabilities. Individuals are choosing to end their lives with state assistance due to being financially unable to access essentials like medical operations, supportive housing, or even food, as an outcome of the deep poverty of Canadian social disability support program design. This systemic failure has triggered a United Nations investigation, criticism from the Canadian Human Rights Commission, and global condemnation. The issue exposes a critical failure point in the MAiD system. The safety mechanism present in MAiD — its two-assessor safeguard — presumes the existence of an external ecosystem of application-specific, referable resources that can relieve the applicant’s driving suffering and connect them to a preferable living future. That ecosystem does not exist. The gap exposes every applicant, not only those in poverty, to preventable loss of life. Right to Live Canada is engineering a Continuity model: a service architecture designed to identify, propose, fund, and execute proposals for a preferable living future in the event of potential death. In the context of MAiD, Continuity Service functions as the missing external referable resource that would equip assessors with the ability to identify and connect applicants to preferable living futures. Its goal is universal service and coverage. The organization’s four core functions are: Continuity Service — identifying and executing preferable living futures where death is otherwise being considered or approached. Continuity Insurance — developing an insurance model that would provide a budget for Continuity Service before crisis. Social Brokerage — productizing and brokering verified, anonymized life-supported outcomes as a financial mechanism for Continuity Service. Research and Development — developing open-source continuity technology, including Artificial Brain Life Support. Right to Live Canada is currently pre-pilot. ------ The Role We are recruiting for a team of Volunteer Media and Public Relations Specialists to be led by a Team Lead. This is a remote opportunity.
