Volunteer Privacy Officer (Remote) Organization: Right to Live Canada Commitment: Part-Time, Flexible, Remote ------ About Right to Live Canada Right to Live Canada is a national non-profit organization dedicated to combating poverty-driven euthanasia and alleviating poverty-induced suffering among Canadians with disabilities. ------ The Opportunity We are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Privacy Officer to oversee all aspects of privacy compliance and data governance across our organization. This is a critical role in safeguarding sensitive information, ensuring adherence to applicable privacy legislation, and building trust with donors, partners, and beneficiaries. ------ Key Responsibilities - Policy Development & Compliance Draft, implement, and maintain organizational privacy policies in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy legislation (e.g., PIPEDA, provincial privacy laws). - Risk Assessment & Mitigation Conduct periodic risk assessments to identify privacy vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions. - Training & Awareness Develop basic training resources and guidance for volunteers handling personal information. - Incident Response Establish and oversee procedures for managing privacy incidents and breaches, including documentation and reporting requirements. - Third-Party Compliance Review vendor and partner relationships for compliance with privacy standards. ------ Qualifications - Strong understanding of Canadian privacy laws and data protection principles (PIPEDA familiarity essential). - Prior experience in privacy, compliance, legal, or risk management roles preferred. - Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. - Ability to work independently in a start-up, resource-limited non-profit environment. ------ What We Offer - An opportunity to define and lead privacy governance for a growing national non-profit. - Flexible, remote volunteer position with significant strategic impact. - Recognition and experience in a specialized leadership role within the non-profit sector. - LinkedIn endorsement and letter of reference after three months of active, successful volunteering ------ To Apply: Please send your CV and a brief statement of interest to volunteer@RightToLive.ca with the subject line: Volunteer Privacy Officer Application.
