Media Outreach Team Lead (Remote, Part-Time)

Organization: Right to Live Canada Location: Remote (United States, Canada or Europe) Time Commitment: Part-time volunteer commitment, approximately 12 hours per week, for a minimum of four months. Required Weekly Meeting: Attendance at the relevant weekly team meeting is required. The meeting schedule will be confirmed during onboarding; all other work may be scheduled at your convenience. ------ THE MISSION Right to Live Canada is an early-stage Canadian non-profit developing Continuity — systems designed to help people maintain access to preferable living futures when facing serious risks to life. Our four core areas are Continuity Service, Continuity Insurance, Social Brokerage, and Corporate Farming. ------ ABOUT THE ROLE The Media Outreach Team Lead will build, manage, and lead the media outreach team responsible for securing meaningful coverage across journalists, publications, broadcasters, podcasts, influencers, creators, and other media. ------ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES -- Set weekly priorities, assign leads, manage workloads, and run the weekly team meeting. -- Recruit, onboard, coach, and support Media Outreach Specialists. -- Monitor participation, performance, quality, and follow-through. -- Manage and improve the existing media outreach and contact-tracking system. -- Review media targets and contacts for quality and relevance. -- Write, edit, and proofread press releases, pitches, outreach messages, and follow-ups. -- Develop targeted pitches for different media audiences and formats. -- Personally manage high-value media relationships and opportunities. -- Track outreach, responses, interviews, coverage, and follow-ups. -- Coordinate with PR, Marketing, leadership, and program teams. ------ QUALIFICATIONS Universal Requirements: -- Good video and audio equipment for virtual meetings. -- A quiet, dedicated environment where you can give virtual meetings your full attention. Required: -- Professional experience in public relations, media relations, publicity, journalism, communications, or a related field. -- Experience building relationships with journalists, podcasts, influencers, or creators. -- Previous team-lead or people-management experience. -- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and media-pitching skills. -- Experience managing media contacts, leads, deadlines, and follow-ups using spreadsheets, CRM, databases, or similar systems. -- Excellent communication, organization, judgment, reliability, and attention to detail. -- Ability to work independently and consistently in a remote startup environment. Preferred: -- Journalism, editorial, communications-agency, nonprofit/advocacy PR, or creator-partnership experience. -- Proven success securing interviews, features, podcast appearances, or media coverage. -- Experience managing remote or volunteer teams. -- Familiarity with Google Workspace, Slack, shared inboxes, spreadsheets, CRM systems, or media databases. ------ TIME COMMITMENT Approximately 12 hours/week for at least four months, including the required weekly team meeting.
