Are you passionate about gender equality and economic opportunities for all? Do you have communications experience to share? If so, this might be the role for you! As the Communications Advisor in Colombo, Sri Lanka, you will support Lanka Social Ventures Ltd, one of the leading social enterprises in Sri Lanka, to promote and communicate their activities and programs in order to increase the engagement of women and especially young women. Roles and Responsibilities Support in developing the organization’s presence on the web and social media platforms Assist with the development and implementation of digital content promoting the organization’s programs which target women and youth Increase engagement on social media platforms through posts and communication campaigns Conduct storytelling workshops for partner staff members Collect and document gender sensitive data, lessons learned, good practices and stories of change from projects, particularly from female participants Support partners to reduce their environmental footprint by transitioning out of paper-heavy communications products Participate in pre-assignment training Participate in at least 3 public engagement initiatives before, during, or after the assignment. Volunteers will be equipped with the tools, training, and support to achieve these goals. Volunteers will also have one virtual check-in with the Public Engagement Officer throughout the course of their assignment Set up a personalized volunteer fundraising page on the WUSC fundraising platform and share it in your networks. Volunteers will be supported with the tools, training and support to achieve the fundraising goal Submit reports as required by the partner organization and by WUSC Partner Description Lanka Social Ventures (LSV) is a social enterprise which was set up based on the recommendations of a research commissioned by Oxfam Great Britain to map social enterprises within the agriculture sector, and to identify the key challenges they face, and make suggestions for donors and development agencies looking to support this space in Sri Lanka. LSV’s mission is to promote and support entrepreneurship and innovation for social change and environmental sustainability. The organization supports entrepreneurial and innovative individuals, groups, community organizations and Small and Medium Enterprises to develop and transform into successful and financially sustainable ‘social enterprises’. LSV is registered as a Public Company and governed by a board of 4 directors representing public, private and community sectors.
Certification or Education Required
Degree and/or training in Communications, Digital Marketing or a related field Experience in Communications, Digital Marketing or related experience Comfortable using online working platforms and using social media Minimum 2 years relevant professional experience in your field of expertise. A commitment to gender equality, youth inclusion, and international volunteering. Experience with group facilitation and trainings, including content development considered an asset.
