Communications & Education Coordinator, Canadian Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (CNPEA)
15-20 hours
/ monthly
1 year with possibility of extension
The Communications & Education Coordinator plays a key role in strengthening CNPEA’s national voice, visibility, and educational impact. Working closely with the Executive Director (ED) and the Awareness & Education Committee, this volunteer will support the development and dissemination of strategic communications and educational materials that advance CNPEA’s mission. This role supports public awareness, stakeholder engagement, media outreach, government relations efforts, and the development of accessible education tools that address elder abuse and ageism across Canada. Key Duties & Responsibilities Communications & Outreach Support the creation, writing, and dissemination of a variety of communications materials, including blogs, social media content, newsletters, and press releases Assist in developing clear, consistent messaging aligned with CNPEA’s mission and strategic priorities Build and maintain an outreach list of relevant journalists and media contacts across Canada Support media relations efforts and assist with government relations outreach Help expand CNPEA’s national visibility and stakeholder engagement Education & Knowledge Mobilization Assist with the creation of educational materials, including infographics and other visual content, case studies, scenarios, toolkits, and awareness resources Support the curation and organization of CNPEA’s resource hub Assist advisory committees and working groups with communications and knowledge dissemination Ensure materials are accessible, inclusive, and reflective of diverse communities Organizational Support Assist the Executive Director and Awareness & Education Committee with related communications and education initiatives Contribute ideas to strengthen CNPEA’s communications strategy and public engagement Qualifications & Experience Experience using social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn) in a professional context Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to craft clear, concise, and compelling messages Experience writing a variety of communications and education materials (e.g., blogs, newsletters, press releases, case studies, scenario-based learning materials) Experience with media relations and/or building media contact lists Knowledge of and/or experience with government relations is an asset Ability to translate complex policy or social issues into accessible public education materials Experience creating infographics or visual communications materials Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment Knowledge of issues related to aging, elder abuse prevention, or ageism is an asset
