About the program: We connect Sri Lankan students aged 7+ with high school English tutors from Canada and other English speaking countries around the world. Our classes are different from traditional English classes. We focus on improving students’ spoken English fluency and communication skills rather than writing and grammar, although those will be included in small amounts where needed. Our program is semester based and returning tutors do not need to reapply.

Tutors lead interactive 50-minute online lessons via Zoom in small groups, helping students build confidence in a supportive environment.

Our fall semester tutor applications are now open: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdeRAzch9UqgpjiaVu5VnNZIovQXfcNmp92o8Z2F71UiibS4Q/viewform?usp=header

This semester will include a total of 12 classes, running every Saturday from September 26 to December 12, and lessons run between 5.30 PM - 8.30 PM, Sri Lankan time. Volunteers can choose to teach for as many hours as they are able within that time window. (Please note that this will be Saturday morning in Ontario - volunteers should convert and check the exact times for their time zone. You can use this website)

Requirements to apply:
Must be a high school student in Grade 10 or above.
Must attend a high school and be eligible to receive volunteer hours through their school.
Must be able to commit to the full semester (tutors are only allowed to miss two classes to ensure consistency for our students).
Must attend one mandatory online training session before the start of the semester. (date TBD)

Must be patient, supportive, and comfortable working with children.
We will email every applicant on a rolling basis one week after your application has been submitted, letting you know if you’ve been selected for an interview.
