Group Leader Volunteer- Summit Health & Wellness Program

Make a Meaningful Impact in Your Community!

As a Group Leader Volunteer, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming and positive environment where participants feel supported, connected, and valued. Through your leadership, you will help build community, encourage friendships, and support individuals on their wellness journey.

What You’ll Do
•	Lead and support recreational and social activities
•	Welcome participants and help them feel comfortable and included
•	Encourage skill-building, connection, and positive social interaction
•	Assist with setting up and organizing program spaces
•	Collaborate with staff and share updates with the Volunteer Coordinator

Key Expectations
•	Represent Summit with professionalism, respect, and compassion
•	Provide positive, supportive mentorship to participants
•	Communicate any client concerns or safety issues promptly
•	Maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries
•	Work collaboratively with flexibility and respect

Please note this is a supportive role- volunteers are not expected to provide counselling.

Additional Details & Skills Required
Group Leader Volunteers may at times support individuals experiencing emotional distress or heightened behaviors. In these situations, volunteers are expected to remain calm, communicate with respect, and follow established safety procedures. This role requires a supportive and empathetic approach while maintaining a safe and positive environment for all participants.
Certification or Education Required
Knowledge or understanding of mental health and/or addiction-related challenges, whether through personal experience, education, or supporting others is considered an asset. A basic awareness of health and safety practices is also important to help ensure a safe and supportive environment for everyone involved.
