Online Peer Mentor
5-8 hours
/ monthly
6 months term
If you have experienced supporting a sibling through cancer or any serious illnesses, you can make a meaningful difference by connecting one-on-one with a sibling in the same boat undergoing the same thing right now. Peer mentors offer understanding, encouragement, and a safe space for siblings to feel heard by someone who truly understands what they’re going through. To apply as a mentor, you must: - Be at least 16 years of age (provide parental or guardian consent if under 18) - Have personal experience as a sibling of a brother or sister who has been diagnosed with cancer or serious illnesses - Be able to commit to three months of regular weekly or bi-weekly online check-ins with your mentee - Complete an interview +a 1 hour video call training with Sibling Society staff - Demonstrate the ability to hold space for others — leading conversation with empathy, and knowing when to refer a mentee to a professional resource
