Online Peer Mentor

5-8 hours / monthly
6 months term
If you have experienced supporting a sibling through cancer or any serious illnesses, you can make a meaningful difference by connecting one-on-one with a sibling in the same boat undergoing the same thing right now. Peer mentors offer understanding, encouragement, and a safe space for siblings to feel heard by someone who truly understands what they’re going through.

To apply as a mentor, you must:

- Be at least 16 years of age (provide parental or guardian consent if under 18)
- Have personal experience as a sibling of a brother or sister who has been diagnosed with cancer or serious illnesses
- Be able to commit to three months of regular weekly or bi-weekly online check-ins with your mentee
- Complete an interview +a 1 hour video call training with Sibling Society staff
- Demonstrate the ability to hold space for others — leading conversation with empathy, and knowing when to refer a mentee to a professional resource
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Volunteers get to connect with people with similar experiences, practice interpersonal skills, and learn more about themselves.
