Spanish and English 1:1 Support

Community Living Oakville is looking for a kind, patient, bilingual (Spanish/English) volunteer to build a meaningful one-to-one connection with a Spanish-speaking person we support. This role is ideal for someone who values inclusion, friendship, and making a genuine difference in someone’s day.

About the role

The volunteer will spend time with the individual during visits to the XCEL Day Program, helping with communication, social engagement, and participation in activities.

XCEL is a community-based day program that focuses on skill-building, recreation, creative activities, and social opportunities that support independence and meaningful community involvement.

Volunteer responsibilities

Provide friendly 1:1 companionship in Spanish and English
Support communication and participation during XCEL program activities
Encourage social interaction and help create a welcoming, comfortable environment
Build a consistent, trusting relationship through regular visits

We are looking for someone who is:

Fluent in Spanish and English
Warm, patient, empathetic, and sensitive to individual needs
Reliable and interested in building a consistent connection
A genuinely caring person who wants to make a positive difference

Time commitment

We are hoping to find someone who may be available one or two days per week for a few hours, with flexibility for longer visits if desired. We are happy to work with your schedule and find a time that feels comfortable and manageable.
