Community Build Crew: Carpentry, Painting & Landscaping (No Experience Needed!)
ABOUT THE LEGACY BUILDING PROJECT The Legacy Building Project works with local homeowners to design and build dedicated housing options—like secondary suites and backyard units—for families supporting adult children with special needs. Join us on-site to help complete our Toronto pilot project! We are in the final push to cross the finish line, and we need hands-on help to make this space move-in ready. Whether you want to lend a hand for a single morning or join us regularly, your time directly helps secure a stable, affordable future for a local family. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING Choose tasks that fit your interests and comfort level: - Painting & Finishes: Surface prep, priming, and painting walls and trim. - Light Carpentry & Assembly: Basic woodworking, trim work, and helping assemble fixtures. - Landscaping & Outdoor Prep: Planting, moving materials, and light grading. - Staging & Setup: Unboxing, moving, and positioning furniture and decor. - Site Logistics: Tool organization, clearing debris, and keeping the work area safe and smooth. WHO CAN VOLUNTEER & WHAT TO BRING - Experience: None required! We welcome DIY enthusiasts, students, makers, and first-time volunteers. On-site guidance and orientation are provided at every shift. - Commitment: Flexible! Join us for a single 4-hour shift or drop in whenever your schedule allows. Attire & Gear: - Please wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty or painted. - For painting and decor staging: Standard closed-toe shoes (like running shoes) are fine. - For active build areas: Hard hats and safety gear are provided on site. (If you own CSA steel-toe boots, please bring them; otherwise, let us know and we’ll match you with tasks that don't require them!) WHY JOIN US? Gain hands-on finish carpentry and site prep experience, meet community-minded people in Toronto, and directly help a family in need of long-term housing security. Ready to help build?
