About Spoken Culture Spoken Culture is a London-based arts and culture platform producing live poetry experiences, community programming, and artist development initiatives across Ontario. We create elevated, community-driven spaces for poets, spoken word artists, musicians, and audiences to connect through performance and storytelling. You can learn more about us at www.spokenculture.com Position Overview Spoken Culture is expanding its creative team and is currently seeking a Media Production Assistant to support visual storytelling across our events and community initiatives. This is a volunteer role with ongoing involvement throughout the year. The Media Production Assistant plays a central role in shaping how Spoken Culture is visually experienced online and in public-facing materials. This role is ideal for someone with experience in photography, videography, or digital content production who wants to help build a growing arts platform through strong visual storytelling. Role Overview The Media Production Assistant leads the visual documentation and content capture strategy for Spoken Culture events and initiatives. This role is ideal for someone with experience in photography, videography, or digital content production who wants to help build a growing arts platform through strong visual storytelling. Key Responsibilities - Capture high-quality photo and/or video content at Spoken Culture events - Document performances, audience engagement, and key moments - Support filming for The Poet Chronicles project - Edit photos and short-form video clips for social media and website use - Assist in producing reels, highlight videos, and recap content - Maintain a structured and organized digital media archive - Collaborate with the Spoken Culture team on content planning - Contribute ideas for visual storytelling aligned with brand identity - Provide edited content within agreed timelines - Identify strong highlight moments suitable for marketing and promotion Commitment Attendance at key Spoken Culture events (evenings and occasional weekends) Ongoing coordination and content editing between events Approximately 8–12 hours per week on average, with heavier involvement during major productions Eligibility We are seeking someone who: - Has experience in photography, videography, or digital media production - Is comfortable editing content using standard editing software (e.g., Adobe, CapCut, Final Cut, etc.) - Has a strong eye for composition and storytelling - Is reliable and meets agreed deadlines - Is interested in arts, culture, and community-driven programming - Access to personal camera equipment is preferred but not mandatory.
