Event Production Assistants

Spoken Culture is a London-based arts and culture platform producing live poetry experiences, community programming, and artist development initiatives across Ontario. We create spaces where writers, spoken word artists, and audiences connect through performance, storytelling, and shared cultural expression.

Our flagship initiatives include:
- The Black History Slam (annual production)
- The Poet Chronicles (collaborative poetry media series)
- The Spoken Culture Artist Roster Directory (launching Spring 2026)
- Draft Society Networking Events (Spring and Fall)

Spoken Culture is expanding its event team and is currently recruiting 10 Event Production Assistants to join our roster for upcoming productions and community initiatives throughout the year.

This is a volunteer, roster-based role. Team members will be contacted and scheduled as needed for events.

Role Overview
The Event Production Assistants will support the smooth execution of live events and community initiatives. This role is ideal for individuals interested in arts administration, live event production, community engagement, or cultural programming. Assistants will support pre-event setup, guest experience, artist coordination, and post-event wrap-up.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with venue setup (chairs, signage, materials)
- Support technical setup coordination (as directed by lead team)
- Ensure event materials are organized and ready
- Welcome and check in attendees
- Provide information and direct guests
- Support accessibility needs as required
- Assist performers as needed (green room coordination, timing cues)
- Support smooth transitions between program segments
- Assist with breakdown and clean-up
- Support post-event material organization

Eligibility
We are looking for individuals who are:
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable interacting with the public
- Able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Interested in arts, poetry, live events, or community building
- Previous event experience is an asset but not required.
