About Spoken Culture Spoken Culture is a London-based arts and culture platform producing live poetry experiences, community programming, and artist development initiatives across Ontario. We create elevated spaces where poets, spoken word artists, musicians, and audiences connect through performance and storytelling. Our core initiatives include: - The Black History Slam (annual flagship production) - The Poet Chronicles (collaborative poetry media series) - The Spoken Culture Artist Roster Directory (Spring 2026 launch) - Draft Society Networking events and industry panels - Community workshops and youth programming As we grow, we are intentionally building sustainable infrastructure to support long-term impact in live poetry and community-based arts. Learn more at: www.spokenculture.com Role Overview The Community Project Assistant supports the planning, coordination, and execution of Spoken Culture’s community initiatives and flagship productions. This role plays a central operational function within the organization. As our platform expands, we are seeking someone who can manage timelines, track deliverables, coordinate collaborators, and ensure projects move from concept to completion with clarity and structure. This role directly supports: - The Black History Slam - The Poet Chronicles - The Artist Roster Directory - Networking events and outreach initiatives - Future programming expansion Key Responsibilities - Develop and track project timelines and milestones - Coordinate internal meetings and document action items - Manage communications with artists, volunteers, and collaborators - Support logistics planning for productions and initiatives - Track deliverables and ensure deadlines are met - Maintain organized documentation across multiple projects - Identify potential risks or gaps and flag them early Estimated Commitment - Approximately 8–12 hours per week on average - Increased availability required during major event cycles and program launches - Flexible and primarily remote, with occasional event attendance Eligibility We are seeking someone who: - Has experience in project coordination, event planning, nonprofit work, or arts administration - Is highly organized and detail-oriented - Communicates clearly and professionally - Is comfortable managing multiple moving pieces simultaneously - Can work independently and take initiative - Is aligned with Spoken Culture’s mission to build sustainable infrastructure for poetry and live arts - Experience coordinating community initiatives, arts programming, or cultural events is a strong asset. - This role requires reliability, accountability, and a strong sense of ownership.
