English Language Learner Group Tutor

#416, 9707 110 Street NW, Edmonton, AB, T5K 2L9 [map]
1-3 hours / weekly
ongoing/year long term
Imagine arriving in a country where you only knew the basics of the language: you can order food, you can introduce yourself to your neighbors, and you can read basic signs, but you know you're missing out on connecting with your community on a deeper level.

That's where we can use your help!
You don't need to be an expert, you just need to know the basics to pass on these skills to people who really want to learn them. Mentor adult learners in language-related concepts and help them build confidence in navigating their communities. From basic conversational skills like introducing Canadian customs and traditions to helping learners with self-expression through simple writing exercises—every exercise helps them gain the knowledge and skills needed for daily life, employment, and further training.

If you are interested in supporting adult learners in developing their English abilities and live in the Edmonton area, we would love to hear from you!
Project Adult Literacy Society (PALS) is looking for adult volunteers who are willing to tutor a group of up to 12 adult learners for 2 hours a week for 12 weeks (or longer if you choose). Tutoring can be in-person at the PALS office or via Zoom! Times and days are based on your schedule. Training, materials and continuous support are provided at every step.
