Volunteer Digital Literacy Tutors

Do you enjoy working with computers, tablets and smart phones? Are you comfortable using email, searching for information online, and using a computer for everyday tasks such as getting directions, filling out online forms, connecting with family and friends through social media and creating documents such as letters or resumes? Are you willing to support an adult learner for 2 hours a week on an ongoing basis for a year to help them improve their basic digital skills? Do you live in Edmonton? Then, we would love to hear from you. We are currently looking for adult volunteers, who are patient, kind and open to meeting with culturally diverse adults of all ages, to support them in meeting their digital learning goals. Meeting with the adult learner that you are matched with can be either online or in person and at a convenient time for both of you. If meeting in person, you can meet at PALS's office or at a convenient library location. Training and support is provided. Please note, that this is an in-person only opportunity.

Orientation, program training, materials and ongoing support provided.
Certification or Education Required
Mastery of general computer skills (logging on, mouse, keyboard, navigating file directory etc.), email, and internet, trouble shooting computer problems, comfortable adapting to new programs and updates, using the computer for "everyday" tasks such as finding information, getting directions/addresses, filling out forms/applying for jobs, and communicating with others and knowledge of how to use a word processing program (Word, Google docs, Apple Pages etc.)
