About the Organization The Edmonton Neighbourhood Watch Program Society (ENW) is a community-based, not-for-profit organization committed to building safer communities through crime prevention, public awareness, education, and neighbourhood-level engagement. Our vision is Safer Communities by Working Together in Crime Prevention. The Opportunity ENW is seeking a Volunteer Marketing and Communications Director to serve on its Board of Directors for a two-year term. This governance role provides strategic leadership and oversight for the organization’s communications, branding, media relations, and public engagement activities. This position is ideal for an experienced communications professional who wants to apply their expertise at a strategic level while contributing to community safety and nonprofit impact. Key Responsibilities - Provide strategic advice to the Board on communications, branding, marketing, and media relations - Oversee the development and implementation of communication and marketing strategies aligned with ENW’s mission and strategic plan - Support organizational messaging across websites, social media, publications, and digital platforms - Guide public relations and media response strategies - Promote public awareness of ENW’s programs, values, and community impact - Support stakeholder engagement, including government, partners, funders, and community groups - Participate actively in Board meetings, committees, and strategic planning sessions - Ensure communications activities align with ethical, legal, and governance standards Qualifications - Post-secondary education in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field - Experience in communications leadership, media relations, or stakeholder engagement - Strong writing, editing, and strategic communication skills - Experience with digital platforms, branding, and content strategy - Experience in the nonprofit or public sector is an asset - Must reside in Edmonton - Must pass a Special Enhanced Police Information Check Commitment - Volunteer, unpaid board position - Two-year term with option to renew - Monthly board meetings and committee participation - Hybrid, remote participation available Application Process Interested applicants are invited to apply through VolunteerConnector with a resume and brief cover letter.
