Website Content Manager

3-15 hours / weekly

We are looking for a Volunteer Website Content Manager to oversee the creation, management, and optimization of all content featured on the IAA website. This position is open to individuals motivated to contribute their expertise and creativity for the betterment of the games industry community and is ideal for those seeking meaningful experience in digital content and communications.

As a volunteer, the Website Content Manager collaborates with a team of dedicated volunteers as well as organizational leadership in order to ensure web content is engaging, accurate, and consistent with IAA's vision and objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plan, write, edit, and publish engaging content for the website, including event pages, blog posts, and organization updates.
• Maintain and update the website using Wix website management and contribute/facilitate to the migration of the site to a new hosting service.
• Collaborate with board members and other volunteers to ensure content is visually appealing and technically robust.
• Monitor and analyze website traffic and user engagement metrics to help guide content improvements.
• Maintain website content calendars and ensure updates are published regularly and on schedule.
• Optimize content for search engines (SEO) and ensure accessibility for all users.
• Review and update existing website content to maintain accuracy, relevance, and consistency.
• Coordinate with external partners when needed.
• Ensure all website content complies with privacy, copyright, and accessibility standards.
• Respond promptly to feedback and requests for content changes.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Interest or background in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, or related fields.
• Minimum 2 years proven experience in the following areas: Wix website management, website development.
• Working knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, and related web technologies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
• Understanding of SEO principles, web analytics, and accessibility standards preferred.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse team of volunteers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a flair for creating engaging content.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• This is a volunteer position with flexible hours; remote or hybrid arrangement is available, but preference is given to Alberta-based candidates.
• This position is available as a remote position, or hybrid-position should you desire to spend time working out of the Walkthrough Collaborative Centre in Edmonton, AB.
• Time commitment is negotiable but regular engagement is encouraged to support website updates and organizational initiatives. Currently, there is a weekly team meeting for volunteers on Thursdays from 12-1 Mountain Time.
