Role Description:
We are recruiting one Director of Marketing, who will lead a small team of youth to plan, design, and publish graphic-based posts for social media.

The Director of Marketing oversees the activities of the Marketing Team. Marketing Team volunteers shed light on mental health struggles from a youth perspective. We raise awareness of mental health challenges from a youth-informed perspective by addressing various topics (e.g. ADHD, self-care, addiction) through research-based, visually-engaging social media content. As Director of Marketing, your role is to support Marketing Team volunteers in their daily tasks. You will take the lead in scheduling and facilitating weekly meetings, where team volunteers brainstorm posts, share project updates, and receive feedback from yourself and each other on their work. In-between meetings, Marketing Team volunteers will conduct research and work on graphic design projects, and may require mentorship from you. You are also responsible for planning any additional meetings that you feel support the team, such as a virtual social night. You will be managing all social media outreach for the Speak Your Mind Team and the Events Team, working closely with both teams to determine advertising needs for blogs and events.

As a team director, you will work closely with FYM’s executive leadership. You are responsible for attending monthly meetings with other FYM directors and providing updates on your team’s progress and needs. You should regularly check in with Marketing Team members, gauge their needs, and bring requests for support to the executive leadership as needed. You may connect with other team leads, with the potential of initiating cross-team collaboration. Please recognize that this role description is not a comprehensive list of everything the Director of Marketing is meant to oversee – this is a framework, which may change over time, and as the needs of the Marketing Team evolve.

Recommended Skills:
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Team leadership or coordination experience
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Conflict resolution and problem-solving
- Knowledge of design principles and techniques
- Experience using the graphic design program Canva (additional programs are welcome)

Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed plans for high-quality social media posts and campaigns
- Create a posting schedule that is available to the Marketing team and other Directors, - and ensure posts are uploaded according to the schedule
- Stay informed on current mental health events and key awareness dates to inform social media posts that are timely and relevant to the FYM audience
- Host weekly Marketing team meetings and contribute to collaborative idea brainstorming, decision-making, and feedback sharing
- Review and provide feedback for all graphics created and research done by the Marketing team members
- Provide mentorship in graphic design to Marketing team members
- Work with the Speak Your Mind team on blog promotion (social media, newsletters)
- Work with the Events team on event promotion (posters, social media, newsletters)
- Create and manage additional accounts on new social media platforms (such as Tiktok) to grow FYM’s reach
- Track social media metrics to determine post performance
- Monitor FYM social media channels, responding to comments and direct messages, deleting inappropriate remarks, and generally ensuring the pages’ aesthetics
- Ensure the accessibility of all social media posts, such as writing comprehensive captions and preparing Instagram's Alt Text function for people with vision disabilities

Estimated Time Commitment: 2-5 hours per week.
Mode: Virtual.
