Volunteer Mentor - Women's Program

1-2 hours / monthly
One meeting per month, for 12 months.
POSITION DETAILS
•	Position Title: Volunteer Mentor
•	Program: UWAA Mentorship Program
•	Location/Setting: Various locations in Calgary, as agreed upon by mentor and mentee (e.g., community centers, cafes, parks, public places, virtual)
•	Time Commitment: Minimum of once a month for 12 months
•	Supervision/Training/Orientation: Provided by UWAA through initial orientation, ongoing support, and regular check-ins

In HIGH DEMAND are Volunteer Mentors with experience in Teaching (general), ESL, Human Resources and/or Career Coaching. 

PURPOSE OF POSITION
The purpose of the Volunteer Mentor position is to support Ukrainian women evacuees by providing guidance, encouragement, and practical assistance in areas such as English language practice, career development, and social inclusion. The mentor will help mentees build confidence, develop skills, and create a supportive network within the Calgary community.

DUTIES/ACTIVITIES
•	Meet (a combination of in person and virtual) with the mentee at least once a month to provide support and guidance
•	Help the mentee improve their English language skills (if applicable) through conversation and practice
•	Assist the mentee in setting and achieving personal and professional goals
•	Provide advice and resources related to job searching, career development, and further education
•	Introduce the mentee to community resources and networks (where applicable)
•	Maintain regular communication with UWAA to report progress and address any concerns

CLIENT/PEOPLE SERVED
•	Ukrainian women evacuees, who have arrived in Calgary 
•	Mentees are often individuals who need further support in achieving their personal and professional goals

OTHER DETAILS
•	Meetings can occur either in person (public places) or virtually, however we recommend a combination of both
•	Ability to commit to the mentoring relationship for at least 12 months
•	In HIGH DEMAND are volunteers with experience in Teaching (general), ESL, Human Resources and/or Career Coaching.
