Volunteer Coordinator (Volunteer Position)
Umuaka Africa is a registered non-profit organization in Calgary supporting children ages 4–13 of African and Caribbean descent. We provide culturally grounded programs that strengthen identity, leadership skills, personal development, and newcomer integration. We are seeking a Membership & Volunteer Coordinator to help us build a strong, reliable, and engaged volunteer community. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys connecting with people, organizing systems, and supporting community-driven programs. Key Responsibilities: Recruit new volunteers through platforms, community outreach, and social channels Screen and onboard volunteers (forms, orientation, follow-up) Maintain volunteer records and schedules Communicate updates with volunteers before events and programs Support membership registration and engagement Assist with planning for volunteer appreciation and engagement activities Help ensure volunteers have a positive, welcoming experience Represent Umuaka Africa in a warm, professional manner This role plays a vital part in helping us deliver programs such as storytelling sessions, cultural workshops, integration programs, and children’s leadership activities.
