Bread Pick-Up and Delivery Driver

University Area in Calgary, AB Canada, 26th Avenue S.E., CALGARY, AB, T2B2P2 [map]
2-4 hours / monthly
Ongoing
Food insecurities is a hard issue for many people in our community. They rely on our free bread & treat give-away service to help feed themselves for the week.

Every Sunday, GFLS's "Bread Pickup Driver" goes to our designated COBS location (University Area) to collect 6 totes of bread.

You can pre pick-up the empty totes from the Centre (Dover Area) anytime during the week, but before Friday at 3:30pm.
We do a 3 to 4 week rotation, so that we do not burn anyone out.

You then drive over to our designated Cobbs on Sunday at 8pm to fill the bins and then deliver them back to the Centre (Dover Area) to drop off that Sunday night or Monday morning before 8:30am.

This role is crucial to ensure we have bread and treats ready for our "Free Bread Giveaway" on Monday mornings at 9 a.m.
Additional Details & Skills Required
You need to be physically able to lift a heavy tote and filling it up fast.
Certification or Education Required
Divers License and large vehicle that will hold 6 totes.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Our drivers are able to choose items, from the donation pickup, to keep for themselves.
We also have a Volunteer Appreciation Day each August that you will be invited to attend.
This celebration includes entertainment, food and prizes.

This role is critical for our marginalized seniors and members who are on limited incomes.

Please consider volunteering to help us help others.
