Volunteer Graphic Designer (Remote)

Ongoing
Do you have a creative eye and a passion for using your design skills for good? We’re looking for a volunteer Graphic Designer Elf to help bring The Magic of Christmas to life across our social media, fundraising campaigns, and holiday events. Your work will help spread joy, tell impactful stories, and visually engage the thousands of supporters, families, and volunteers who make our mission possible.

As a Graphic Designer Elf, you’ll collaborate with our Marketing & Communications team to develop a variety of visual content—from festive social media posts to fundraising materials, event signage, print pieces, and more.

This is a remote, flexible role with varying time commitments depending on the season.

Responsibilities may include:
- Designing digital content for social media, newsletters, and our website
- Creating print-ready materials such as posters, signage, donation forms, and volunteer guides
- Supporting fundraising campaigns and donor communications with branded visuals
- Updating existing creative assets in accordance with our brand standards
- Collaborating with other volunteers and team leads on upcoming event needs

Required Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
- Experience working within brand graphic standards and guidelines
- Knowledge of digital/print publication, social content, and web imagery best practices
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks independently
- Bonus: Familiarity with Canva, motion graphics, or templated design systems

Time Commitment
- Off-Season (January–November): 1–3 hours per week
- December (Peak Season): Up to 5+ hours per week, especially leading up to and potentially including December 24 (Christmas Eve)
- Very Flexible schedule with the option to take on more hours based on project availability and your capacity.

Other Requirements:
- Access to a personal laptop or computer with Adobe Creative Suite
(As a volunteer-run charity, we’re unable to provide equipment)
- Comfortable working remotely and communicating via email, shared drives, and collaboration tools
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Purpose-Driven Creativity
- Use your design skills for good by helping a beloved grassroots charity spread joy and hope during the holidays.
- Create visuals that matter—your work will uplift families, inspire donors, and energize volunteers across Calgary and beyond.

Portfolio-Worthy Experience
- Build a diverse design portfolio with real-world projects including social media graphics, print materials, event signage, and branded campaigns.
