Costume Team Member (Seasonal - In Person)

Bay #32, 4216 54 Ave SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 2E3 [map]
Ongoing
Join our Costume Team, the cheerful crew working behind the scenes to make sure every Elf and Santa looks their very best for the big day — December 24th!

Each year, we dress over 800 Elves and 60+ Santas who spread joy to families across Calgary during the holiday season. As part of this fun, festive, and supportive team, you’ll play a key role in creating the magic!

What You’ll Do
As a Costume Team Member, you’ll help with:
- Organizing and preparing Elf and Santa costumes for distribution
- Brushing and tidying Santa suits so they look picture-perfect
- Polishing Santa brass and accessories
- Organizing costumes by numbers and bus assignments for smooth delivery
- Checking costumes for missing pieces or repairs needed (and flagging them for the sewing team)
- Assisting with costume fittings — helping volunteers find and fit their perfect Santa or Elf costume
- Working alongside other team members to keep everything running efficiently and joyfully
****No sewing experience required! (We have a dedicated sewing team for repairs and alterations.)***

Time Commitment
- Starting early November: Meet once a week for 2–3 hours at our warehouse to begin costume prep. (Day of the week will be decided pending availability)
- December: Continue weekly meetings and help host Elf and Santa fitting sessions.
- Costume team members are asked to commit to at least one fitting session per week. (Various weekend day and weekend availability, shifts are 3-5 hours long)
- The more volunteers we have, the fewer shifts everyone needs to take!

Big Event Days!
We kindly ask — though it’s not required — that costume team members volunteer for at least one of our two major event days:
1. December 23rd – Hospital & Care Centre Visits (8am-4pm, min 4-6 hour shift)
2. December 24th – Main Event Day (6am–7pm; min 5-hour shift)

These are our busiest and most exciting days, with nearly 1,000 volunteers coming through the costume room! Having lots of helping hands ensures everything runs smoothly.

Who We’re Looking For
You’d be a great fit if you are:
- Friendly, positive, and team-oriented
- Organized and detail-focused
- Able to take direction and complete tasks independently or with others
- Excited to be part of a joyful holiday tradition!
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
