Volunteer Grant Writer - FunnyFest Comedy Society 2026 Volunteer
The 26th Annual FunnyFest Comedy Society needs some help remotely and at the office with Grant Writing and Research to secure Grants and funding. This is an outstanding role if you want to learn from 25 years of grant writing experience and use our past grant writing assets and resources. The FunnyFest Comedy Society is an Alberta-based nonprofit organization focused on changing the world by being a catalyst for physical and mental well-being through sharing the "GIFT of LAUGHTER". FunnyFest is a leader in creative art development, creative art programming, mentorship, educational support, and community programs. The FunnyFest Comedy Society is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Volunteer Grant Writer to help identify funding opportunities and support FunnyFest Comedy Society's growth through grant research and proposal development. This role is ideal for someone with experience in nonprofit grant writing, fundraising, proposal writing, or research who wants to make a GAME-CHANGING impact in creative arts development. Responsibilities Include (But are never limited too): 1. Research grant opportunities for presenting art programming, educational programming and nonprofit development; 2. Identify grants that align with FunnyFest Comedy Society's current stage and eligibility requirements; 3. Assist with writing grant proposals and funding applications; 4. Track grant deadlines and submission requirements; 5. Help organize supporting documentation needed for applications; 6. Collaborate with leadership (and other volunteers) on funding priorities; 7. Have Fun and Laugh! The FunnyFest Society produces shows, seminars and workshops year - round. We give back the community more than we take in. The main events: Monthly Comedy Series and fundraisers; 26th Annual FunnyFest Calgary Comedy Festival, MAY 28 to JUNE 7, 2026; AND the 27th Annual FunnyFest Comedy Competition, APRIL 8 to 17, 2027; plus On - going workshops and seminars. As 2026 will be FunnyFest's 26th Anniversary, there is no better time to get involved, as there are amazing opportunities to gain valuable (and transferable) skills, meet new friends, receive some cool benefits, and help FunnyFest make the world a better place for all. Experience is preferred, but we would teach you. Plus you will have fun, all the while, learning many businesses applicable skills and systems that we have created to be more efficient with our limited resources. The GRANT WRITING role could lead to contract work with FunnyFest Society. The commitment time is up to you, but we recommend 1 to 2 hours at a time, to 4 hours at a time. You will do many interesting and stimulating tasks that are important to accomplish, but are dynamic in nature --- You will see the progress and results almost immediately. This opportunity is for people that want to learn in a environment that permits you to learn many things, develop new skills and make an impact. The office environment is supportive, yet challenging, and a constantly evolving and moving environment. You will be given space to be creative and your own station with a computer to utilize GRANT WRITING Archival RESOURCES AND MS Office (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook) and other software. Certification or Education Required
Some experience with GRANT WRITING and RESEARCH. Ability to write precise content with impact.
