Volunteer Research Assistant

The ELIA Institute is seeking volunteer Research Assistants to support interdisciplinary research at the intersection of psychology, linguistics, psychiatry, sociology, psychometrics, and related fields.

This role is ideal for students, recent graduates, or individuals with a strong interest in research who are looking to gain practical experience in scientific inquiry. Research Assistants will contribute to projects by identifying, evaluating, and synthesizing academic literature while collaborating with a growing team dedicated to advancing the science of language, identity, empathy, and mental well-being.

As a founding volunteer, you will play an important role in helping shape the development of a growing nonprofit research institute.

What You Will Be Doing

- Conduct literature reviews on assigned research topics.
- Search for and evaluate peer-reviewed journal articles.
- Summarize research findings into concise evidence summaries.
- Organize references and research materials.
- Assist with evidence synthesis for ongoing projects.
- Participate in research discussions and team meetings.
- Provide feedback on research ideas and project development.
- Collaborate with Content Assistants, Grant Development Volunteers, and other members of the research team.
- Complete assigned research tasks independently while communicating progress during monthly check-ins.

Training and mentorship will be provided.
