ROLE OVERVIEW As a Volunteer Video Editor, you’ll help shape the visual storytelling of d.talks by editing video content for social media, event recaps, promotional materials, and digital communications. This role is perfect for someone passionate about video editing and eager to gain experience in a nonprofit creative environment. ABOUT D.TALKS d.talks (Design Talks Institute) is a non-profit based in Calgary that explores how design impacts our everyday lives—through the buildings we live in, the spaces we share, and the systems we move through. We host events, exhibitions, and an annual Design Week to get people talking, learning, and imagining better communities together. We’re a small, creative team that values curiosity, collaboration, and fresh perspectives. Volunteering with us is a great way to build skills, connect with others, and contribute to a team that truly values and respects its volunteers. WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING? Edit and assemble raw footage into polished videos for social media and events Create short clips, trailers, and highlight reels that capture d.talks’ energy Add captions, music, and graphic overlays to enhance viewer engagement Collaborate with the communications team to meet deadlines and align with brand style Manage video files and organize projects for easy access and reuse WHAT SKILLS DO WE NEED FROM YOU? Basic to intermediate experience with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar) Ability to work with footage, audio, and graphics to create engaging videos Attention to detail and ability to follow brand guidelines Comfortable working independently and managing time effectively Bonus: interest in design, community, and arts sectors PLEASE SEND US YOUR RESUME AND/OR PORTFOLIO TO VOLUNTEER@DTALKS.ORG
