Seniors Drop-in Social Club is a drop-in, volunteer-led program, which provides seniors (ages 55+) with a space to meet, participate in activities or games, learn something new, and most importantly, engage in conversation with new friends in a comfortable, friendly environment. It is meant to enhance inclusion, connections to reduce social isolation, and provide access to supportive information for seniors in our communities. Library volunteers act as hosts for the program, helping with set-up, take-down, coffee/tea preparation and support, greet attendees, and engage seniors in discussions as well as games and activities. Periodically, external speakers or partner-led activities may occur at the beginning of the program followed by conversation and coffee/tea/snacks. On weeks where presentations do not occur, the program will focus on conversations, games, activities and the occasional presentation on Library resources by Library location staff.
