Mentoring That Fits Your Life – One Hour, Big Impact

Calgary, AB [map]
1 hour / weekly
I year, a relationship takes time
You don’t need special skills to make a special impact—just an open heart and a little time.

As a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters, you’ll spend a few hours a month doing simple, meaningful things with a young person—like going for walks, visiting the science centre, baking, playing catch, or grabbing ice cream. These everyday moments help build confidence, connection, and trust.

You don’t need to be a teacher, a coach, or a superhero. In fact, the reason you think you might not be the right fit—your quiet nature, your life experience, your unique interests—might be exactly what a young person needs. Just by showing up and being yourself, you can help a young person feel seen, supported, and inspired.

With less than 40 hours a year, you can change the course of a life.

At BBBS Calgary we make it easy to get started. You’ll receive training, support, and a dedicated team behind you from day one. You’ll be matched with a child or youth (ages 6–24) based on where you live, shared interests and personality. No guesswork, no pressure—just real connection.

With 150 children and youth on our wait list, now, more than ever, young people need someone in their corner. You could be that someone.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
As a mentor, you’ll build a powerful connection that helps a young person grow—and you’ll grow too. Enjoy the reward of giving back, gain new perspective, strengthen your communication skills, and feel more connected to your community. With full support from our team, you’ll be part of something meaningful. Just one hour a week can make a lifetime of difference—for you and your mentee.
