Burnaby Neighbourhood House - Volunteer Bus Driver

Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community?

Burnaby Neighbourhood House is seeking compassionate individuals to join our team as Volunteer Bus Drivers! By becoming a volunteer driver, you’ll play an important role in supporting seniors in Burnaby to stay connected, active, and engaged in their community.

Our outing program is designed to support seniors’ mental health and well-being by helping participants attend community outings and recreational activities, build social connections, and reduce barriers to participation caused by mobility or transportation limitations.

What You’ll Do:
• Provide safe transportation for seniors using the Burnaby Neighbourhood House company bus.
• Help facilitate community outings and recreational trips for senior participants.
• Offer a friendly and supportive presence, helping create a comfortable and welcoming experience for seniors during trips and activities.
• Help reduce social isolation and improve access to meaningful community engagement opportunities.
• Support seniors with patience, kindness, and professionalism.

Skills, Experience, Qualifications Required:
• Valid Class 4 Driver’s License.
• Friendly, reliable, patient, and comfortable working with seniors.
• Safe and confident driving skills.
• Respect for confidentiality and commitment to professionalism.
• Willingness to complete a Criminal Record Check.

Time Commitment:
• Volunteer opportunities are based on your availability.
• Typically 1–2 trips per month.
• Trip dates and times will be announced in advance.

Training & Support:
• Orientation and training will be provided.
• Ongoing support from Burnaby Neighbourhood House staff.

All volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application process with Burnaby Neighbourhood House. This includes a volunteer application form, informal interview, online volunteer orientation, and policy forms.
