Repair Cafe volunteer 'fixers'

/ monthly
We are looking for a yearly commitment.
Our volunteers help the general public repair their broken or damaged small household appliances or mechanical items (toasters, lamps, fans, clocks, hair dryers etc.) We are looking for people that are 'handy', like to fix things and want to see items kept out of the landfill site. Our volunteers also learn from each other on how different items are fixed. Volunteers bring their own tools but we have several other tools that may be shared among the group if anyone doesn't have the right tool. We also supply most common parts so that the repair can be done at the site of the Repair Cafe (church halls, community centres, outdoor markets - it varies as needed). Generally we operate once per month, and usually on a Saturday.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Our clients are very happy when their household items can be fixed. They appreciate the skill of the volunteer to repair their item and learn more about how to take care of the item. If you like to repair things, keeping them in operation and saving people money (so they don't have to buy a new item), then this is for you.
