ARTex Coding Society

ARTex Coding Society is a student run, non-profit, Vancouver-based coding academy that focuses on bringing quality free students coding education. Our lessons are all teacher volunteer run, which provides a mutually beneficial experience for both teacher volunteers and students. As technology becomes increasingly ubiquitous in our society, coding skills are becoming a necessity, which creates significant disadvantage for children who aren't able to afford most of the costly coding classes in the market. Recognizing the prevalence of inherent biases towards marginalized people in tech (e.g. individuals of colour being denied mortgage from algorithmic lending), it is crucial to invest in tech education for marginalized youth to create equality in tech in the future. Because of this, ARTex is committed to creating opportunities for all children to interact with the tech industry. We expose youth to a chance to discover their passion for coding, providing them with free, detailed lessons taught by professionally trained volunteer instructors.
