Director of Fundraising

The Mental Health Society of Greater Victoria is seeking a Director of Finance to join our team! Our mission is to improve mental health in Victoria by raising awareness of the cause and facilitating access to local support services. We are a 100% volunteer organization that adapts to our volunteers' availability. 

All tasks for this position will be performed remotely on a flexible schedule. However, we host online meetings every two weeks for individual teams and one additional meeting every 3 months for all our volunteers. Currently, these meetings take place over Google Meet. On top of meetings, volunteers are expected to work remotely to complete their assigned tasks by the given deadlines.

As part of our young and dynamic board, you will work collaboratively with the leadership team to plan our organization's structure, goals, strategy, and initiatives. You will work closely with our Executive Team, Director of Finance, and Director of Development to plan and execute our financial/fundraising strategies. 

Requirements: 
• Strong interpersonal skills 
• Strong research skills + writing skills 
• Passionate about mental health 
• Working understanding of Google Sheets/Excel 
• Working knowledge of finance and fundraising, as well as the CRA charity application process 
• Knowledge about direct mail fundraising and online fundraising techniques

Bonus skills and experience: 
• Currently living in Victoria, BC (preferred) 
• Previous experience in monitoring and evaluation 
• Previous nonprofit/charity experience 
• Working knowledge of strategic/financial planning 
• Grant-writing 
• Previous experience in planning and implementing fundraising initiatives
