Director of Development

The Mental Health Society of Greater Victoria is seeking a Director of Development. Our mission is to improve mental health in Victoria by raising awareness of the cause and facilitating access to local support services. The Director of Development is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and development of our mobile app, as well as working with the Board and Strategic Plan to increase the reach and sustainability of the Organization. The Director of Development is responsible for managing the team of developers, providing project guidance and structure. This position also works with the Executive Team (President, Vice-President, CFO and Secretary) to help plan strategic initiatives, troubleshoot operational issues, and further the impact of the Nonprofit. The Director of Development is also involved in building key partnerships, including through the mentorship of practicum students supervised by the Director. This is an Executive-Level Board Member position. We are a 100% volunteer-run grassroots organization. Our team is composed of talented people from all backgrounds who are passionate about mental health. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the non-profit sector. We encourage both professionals and students to apply. In this leadership role, you will lead biweekly online meetings for a small team of volunteers, facilitate brainstorming sessions, and oversee the completion of all finance tasks. As part of our young and dynamic board, you will work collaboratively with the leadership team to plan our organization's structure, goals, strategy, and initiatives. You will primarily collaborate with our Executive and MindMap app teams. The director is also expected to assist with online recruitment for the team members when needed and maintain consistent communication with other members of MHS leadership. This involves attending bimonthly online meetings with the organization’s directors and other team leaders to provide updates on your team’s progress.
