Learning Through Loss
Learning Through Loss (LTL) is a registered charity that is approaching thirty years of service providing workshops, support groups, and counselling services to youth living through grief and loss in the South Island area.
A small and agile organization, LTL’s programs are delivered by a team of five registered clinical counselors, assisted by a part-time program assistant and overseen by our executive director. LTL builds youth resilience by enhancing youths' knowledge and life skills as it pertains to the human experience of grief, which is unique to every person and influenced by many cultures and traditions. With the values of hope, healing, and community, LTL was a vision where no youth grieves alone, and instead each young person faced with grief finds connection and kinship with peers, family, nature, and their own cultural traditions.
In alignment with the Government of British Columbia's mental health priorities for youth, LTL’s multi-faceted programs provide comfort and skills to navigate grief in healthy ways, based on peer support, accessibility and inclusivity, empathy, compassion, connection, and community Learning. Additionally, LTL seeks to support the adult community (parents, caregivers, educators, youth serving professionals) gain the knowledge to support youth experiencing grief by offering community events and professional development workshops.
